Passion Pictures: NBA – The Gift of Game
Undabo’s Doug Kennedy worked with Passion Pictures as VFX & CG supervisor on NBA’s Christmas Day Campaign Directed by Dave Scanlon, produced by Passion Pictures with agency Translation.
On Christmas Eve, NBA toy action figures come to life and play an action packed basketball game packed with everybody’s favourite NBA stars and their signature moves.
From LeBron James to Steph Curry, the NBA action figures are animated in CG and carefully crafted by the talented team at Passion to mimic stop-motion animation, resulting in a remarkable handcrafted aesthetic seamlessly integrated into the live action scene.
Doug Kennedy worked with a talented team of previs animators, modellers, texture artists, animators, lighters, effects artists and compositors at Passion to create this stunning film and 2x 10 second vignettes in a relatively short period of time. Doug also worked as the VFX supervisor during the shoot.
