October on Nick
August 2007.

Undabo was asked by Nick UK to create a promotional sequence for the brand new October line up on Nickelodeon.

The piece was created using 3D Environments and rotoscoped footage from the various episodes of the relevant programmes. The style and mood of the piece was designed to look initially live a big MGM musical with Busby Berkley influences, the water section created for the “H20” sequence reflects the influences from an Esther Williams movie. And the final scene was designed to look like an arena concert in which Drake and Josh could throw some dangerous shapes.

The piece was intended for broadcast on Nickelodeon in 4:3 but was also due to be shown in the cinema for the first two weeks of Pixar’s Ratatouille’s release, so needed to be created at 2K resolution with a 4:3 action safe area which would be scaled down and cropped for television broadcast.

The Sequence proved so popular that Nickelodeon commission many variations of this theme to promote a host of their other programming.
