Financial Times Homeland
April 2007.
Undabo came to the assistance of acclaimed directors Blac Ionica, on their latest project "Homeland" for the Financial Times.
"Homeland" is comprised of one continuous shot flowing through nine vignettes that ultimately resolve in a folded copy of the Financial Times. Each scene has a knock on effect to the following scene and illustrates the global ramifications of finance in our world today, using a stylised approach Directing Trio Blac Ionica (Chris Strong, Tim Wetherall and Jon Evans) have combined live action, stock footage, cg and still photography to create this multi-disciplinary piece.
Undabo's significant contribution to this work starts after the scene where our "hero" carries the woman away from the fire and smoke of the explosion, and when the moving image becomes the cover of the book on the production line. The book sequence, expanding city, pop-up book effects and pack shot resolve were all created by Undabo's Doug Kennedy. The most challenging of these shots was the pull back through the city as it grows and expands into the familiar metropolis featuring some of the world most famous architectural business landmarks. This city then folds down onto itself like the closing pages of a pop-up book. The resolution required for the images involved in this sequence was astonishing and marked the demand for Undabo to move to the most powerful 64 bit technology available which we implement in our day to day work
