Coked Up Britain
November 2005.
Undabo has completed work on a series of four CGI effect shots for a documentary promo about cocaine abuse in the UK, the programme “Coked up Britain” aired during November on Sky One.
The brief was to create the onscreen captions for the promo out of a powdered substance and integrate this text into the background plates laid out like lines of cocaine, this CGI text would then be sucked up by the live action rolled up banknote as it passed through scene near to the text.
The effect was created by generating particles in XSI in the shape of the text formation, then by affecting the particles with suitable forces that would have been present in the live action scene.
Due to legal regulations about this sensitive subject area it was crucial to get a look for the powdered substance that would look believable but would not offend nor look comical.
After a days development work the sequences where completed within 12 hours of receiving the background plates in accordance with the tight deadlines presented.
